A day in the life

I'm sure it's not at all evident - unless you're also reading Rosalie's own blog, which is something of a spin job - but the settling in period here has been dominated by our youngest daughter's trials and tribulations in the French school system. We're thinking the whole experience would lend itself to a movie - something suitably Dickensian ...

Anyway, one of the things that has been (literally) keeping her awake at night is the requirement to recite a French poem In Front Of The Class. Which she did today - and aced! God only knows how the teacher managed to create a marking profile out of this, but she did, and Rosalina got 95%. I shall write that out in full because it sounds more impressive: so, that's NINETY FIVE PERCENT. Of course, the ameliorative impact of this rather stunning effort was immediately diluted by the need to start memorising another poem ...

On less important notes:
a - Lionel Jospin (former Prime Minister and presidential candidate for the socialist Left) spoke at my work place tonight;
b - I am submitting myself to regular exercise classes which are taken, of course, in French (which tends to mean I look rather stupid less coordinated and agile than I like to think I am);
c - we are planning our trip to Venice next week, which we'll break with an overnight stay at Bergamo.

  1. Rich - Regarding your lack of coordination, be inspired by Tana Umaga playing Super Rugby at 38!SBW Beware! We are planning a trip to Foxton Beach - doesn't quite measure up to Venice but it will be warmer. Good for Rosie - what a champion! Da

  2. Tana - he'd be pretty much my age, wouldn't he?! Enjoy the beach - could do with some sun and sand myself at the moment ...

  3. Go Rosalina! Reminds me of Trish's Aussie-born Maori nephew winning the Irish prize soon after they moved to Cork! Have a fab time in Venice; by way of contrast, I'm just back from a work trip to Palm Island, beautiful place. Barbs xx
